CORE supports training of trainers on solar mini-grids & DRE systems in Ghana
CORE, in partnership with the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) conducted a training of trainers on solar photovoltaic-based mini-grid and DRE systems in Ghana.
The workshop took place on 20-22 February 2024 in Sunyani at the UENR campus. It was divided into three modules that covered technical systems design and uses of software, selection procurement and installation of decentralised renewable energy systems (DRE) and training delivery methods.
22 participants learnt about the functioning of mini-grids as well as the design, installation and maintenance process. The modules also helped them expand their knowledge of standards and quality specifications of different components and mini-grid and how to design an effective approach to include it in their curriculums.
By equipping these trainers with the necessary expertise, CORE aims to help UENR develop learning programmes that also focus on PV mini-grids to improve capacity-building and boost the development of the DRE sector in the country.
