CORE contributes to STAR C’s capacity-building workshop on solar energy qualification frameworks in East Africa
The International Network of Solar Technology and Application Resource Centres (STAR C), implemented by the International Solar Alliance (ISA), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and CORE, managed by ARE, conducted a training on regional solar energy qualification frameworks and curricula on 17 April 2024 for selected training and examination centres in the East African Community (EAC).
The objective of the workshop was to support EACREEE in setting up a dialogue as well as a structure for common accreditation and quality assurance of solar PV and solar thermal training curricula at the higher education level through future collaboration with the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) and in discussion with responsible Ministries in the EAC.
23 attendees learnt more about the STAR C project and deepened their knowledge of solar PV and the tools and actions needed to develop better capacity-building in their communities through contributions of Engreen and Centre for Research in Energy and Energy Conservation (CREEC).
By equipping these lecturers with the necessary expertise, CORE aims to contribute to the widespread adoption and sound implementation of renewable energy technologies in the EAC Region.
